Currently, the Ubuntu version in Cub Linux is 14.04 LTS. When 16.04 LTS Ubuntu is going to be available in April soon, does it upgrade the Ubuntu automatically to the latest version?
Thank you very much
Hi, it’s not set to auto update. It might cause too many breakages. Although Ubuntu will offer an in place upgrade, there are some major changes between 14.04 and 16.04, not least the move to Systemd. I would like to run some tests first and then maybe release an upgrade package.
There is also the simpler option of waiting until August and then installing the Xenial hardware LTS enablement stack. This keeps the repositories on Ubuntu 14.04 but updates the kernel and xorg to the ones used by 16.04. This should be well tested by then too and quicker to install. I will release a service pack at this point.
I was wondering if there were any beta ISOs for Cub based on Xenial 16.04 so I can test it out on my Skylake laptop, which would benefit from the latest kernels. Or is there an easy way for me to upgrade the existing stable version of Cub. Thanks for a great looking product.
hi there i tried Cub Linux in my dads tablet but it wasn’t suitable for touch. is there any package makes cub fully support touch screen? my dads tablet is msi windpad 110w .
is any distro fully support touch screen? with google chrome environment of course
Hi, I answered this on the questions page:

I just installed cub linux 64 and it runs great. The only issue I have is every time I go to the chrome store the screen goes black and I have to shut down the computer to get the screen back again. I read that I should be able to run chrome apps but can’t if the screen goes black on the site. This is the only site where this happens. Is it something to do with google trying to block the use of this software?
This worked for me:
“Please disable/untick hardware acceleration in Chrome: Settings -> Show Advanced Settings: “
Hi, I thought this could be a great way to resurrect an old HP NC4000 laptop - Pentium M processor, 1GB RAM, but after booting from the USB drive, it seems to just hang after I select “Start Chromixium”. Any idea what might be the issue, or what I might try to get it running?
Pentium M might not be PAE aware. Have a look at this link:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PAE
Press E at the boot screen to edit the boot line and then add:
forcepae — forcepae
Enter to try boot,
I tried (and failed, BADLY) to install Cub on my aging Black MacBook (2008).
Turns out this an Ubuntu problem - who knew?
The solution is to unpack the ISO and repack it with MKISOFS like this:
sudo mkisofs -r -V “$IMAGE_NAME” -cache-inodes -J -l -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table -o ../cub-linux1-5
I’ll happily provide my copy to anyone but I expect a release from the developer would be better to avoid any potential security breach!
Thank Marc for sharing this. I have slightly revised the ISO build procedure going forwards and it should be more or less identical to the one Ubuntu use. So I hope you won’t need to do this in future. Our ISOs are hybrid ISOs meaning they will boot directly from Grub and are MBR and EFI capable. We have now added an HFS layer now which may help on MacBooks.
This will be for Cub Linux 1.0 x64 ISOs in future.
Trying to install, it detected I had WIN7 but didn’t offer the dual boot option. Why not?
I am not technical enough to edit the partition table by hand.
Did it not offer to install alongside windows? Is it did, you then have to drag a slider along a graphic to indicate how much space to make for Cub.
If not, you can shrink the windows partition from within windows first using disk management…
Please let me know how you get on…
Why my cam is always ON?
Is there a way to tie user accounts directly to Google accounts? Like in a Chromebook?
Not at the moment. The way we do it in Cub is to create the local user account and then sign into Chromium with your Google Account.
Hey! Recently got Cub Linux on a USB, and thought that I installled it, but I remove the USB and get the “No Bootable Device” error message, and when the USB is plugged in, I get prompted to install Cub, even though I already did!!! Suggestions?
Did you use the installer icon on the dock from the live USB, chosen an installation type/partition and a username/password? At the end it will inform you installation is complete and you can continue testing or restart. Did you do all that?
hola alguien me puede ayudar como hago para crear carpetas en el escritorio y poder poner un acceso directo en el escritorio, porque en el fondo de la pantalla no se puede poner nada, se lo agradesco, saludos Michael
Dear Michael. There is no desktop in Cub Linux! Please see this link for more details:

Why were all of the old chromixium wiki pages taken down!?!?
I have several machines running 1.5 and can’t find any answers anymore.
Does anyone have the old information on switching to chrome?
What a horrible decision getting rid of all of that old information!
I don’t know if you followed my posts about the change of name to Cub Linux and why? If so, you will have seen that Google required me to cease all use of the Chromixium name. This of course included the wiki. Don’t worry though, the wiki has been copied over to the Cub Linux website and you can find the same information at https://cublinux.com/wiki. In fact it is linked at the top of this page under the support menu.
Hir Sir,
I love using chromixium.
I try using the 64 bit CUB LINUX. it boots in live mode bit when installed i boot up bit after the bootscreen is just white screen. I used unetbootin to make the bootable drive
I would have another attempt at creating the bootable drive. First format the drive fully/slow method. Then if you still have Chromixium, you can create the USB using disk management, there’s a video on our YouTube channel: http://youtu.be/bG16pH1DErw

Go into the Control Panel, Startup Applications. You’ll see an entry for Gnome Keyring. Double-click it and tick the Active box. Click Save, close and log out and back in again.
I stumbled upon Cub Linux while searching how to install Chrome OS on an old Dell I have. I love the simplicity and clean look. I also like the ‘integration’ with Ubuntu. Everything is working great. Cheers!
Cub Linux is also installing a chromebook?
