Cub Linux is an Open Source project and draws heavily from a number of sources which I would like to credit in full here.
Ubuntu
Ubuntu is currently the underlying base technology and the most important part of the jigsaw that is Cub Linux. The current build is based on the latest Long Term Support (LTS) release of Ubuntu, codenamed ‘Trusty Tahr’, version 14.04.
Ubuntu is comprised of many components which are licensed under varying licenses. See here for more details.
The source code for the Ubuntu base can be downloaded by enablling the SRC repositories within Synaptic or in /etc/apt/sources.list. This command will pull down the source for any package:
apt-get source <package>
Alternatively, you may browse packages and their sources here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/.
In Cub Linux the Main, Universe and Multiverse repositories along with their updates and security-updates counterparts are enabled by default.
By definition, Cub Linux owes a great deal to the Debian Linux distribution upon which Ubuntu is itself based.
Desktop Technology
The Chromium browser and Chromium OS projects are obviously the main inspiration behind Chromixium. These are the Open Source drivers behind Google’s flagship Chrome and Chromebook projects. I have included the latest Chromium browser withinCub Linux and recreated the look and feel of the wider Chromium Operating System known as Aura/Ash using Open Source alternatives, notably the Plank dock, Openbox Window Manager, LXPanel and the Gnome Files/Nautilus file browser.
3rd Party PPAs
In order to include some more up to date packages, some PPAs are enabled by default. These draw packages directly from the software creator’s repositories hosted on Launchpad.net:

Manually Installed
The following packages are not available in the official Ubuntu repositories or PPAs and have been included by installing .debs manually or building the packages from source:
A number of 3rd party and bespoke Python and Bash scripts are included, but as these are not compiled, the source is visible by all!

Pepperflashplugin-nonfree
Adobe Flash Player is provided via the Pepperflashplugin-nonfree package. This package downloads Google Chrome, unpacks it and places the Flash Player plugin where Chromium can find it. Google Chrome is not installed nor otherwise used. The terms of use of Adobe Flash Player are found towards the end of the Google Chrome license. Please note, this package is not Open Source/GPL and is released under it’s own license.
If you are not comfortable using Pepper Flash in Cub Linux, you can uninstall it using the Flash Player tool in the Control Panel.
As I understand it, I am able to include this package as long as the player itself is only used as a browser-plugin. If this is not correct, please contact us and I will remove it.

The default icon theme is a highly customized icon set incorporating original work inspired by Chromium OS and also derivations of the Faenza icon set by Matthieu James and the Elementary XFCE icon set by the Shimmer Project:

GTK+2 and GTK+3 themes are Greybird from the Shimmer Project.
The Openbox theme was originally based off Greybird by sinisa sinisa and has since been forked further with help and thanks from Corbin Crutchley who has also created the light GTK theme.
